Joy Bentley Phillips

Joy is a dynamic force in the philanthropic arena, driven by a steadfast commitment to bridging the wealth gap and fostering equity in black and brown communities. With a rich background spanning over 15 years in the nonprofit sector, Joy has catalyzed over $20 million in investments toward charitable causes, championing education, workforce development, medicine, and higher education.

Inspired by the enduring legacy of her grandmother, Joy co-founded Philanthropy Forward, an advisory firm dedicated to advancing equity and justice through collective empowerment and strategic philanthropy. In this capacity, she pioneers innovative approaches to leverage philanthropic resources for societal good, guiding individuals and institutions towards impactful investments that drive lasting change.

Beyond her role at Philanthropy Forward, Joy has led strategic growth, communications, and philanthropy efforts, developing successful fundraising programs that have contributed to major capital and comprehensive campaigns at Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins Medicine, American Cancer Society, and currently at Academy of Hope Adult PCS and Academy of Hope Foundation. Her expertise encompasses developing effective revenue strategies and fostering organizational leadership for sustainable impact. Her work has not only mobilized resources for critical causes in healthcare and education but also laid a strong foundation for her role in nurturing the next generation of changemakers. With a deep commitment to the philanthropic landscape, Joy's contributions have been instrumental in driving forward initiatives that ensure long-term community empowerment and social change.

Joy holds a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from George Washington University, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Temple University. Her unwavering dedication to leveraging philanthropy as a catalyst for social change continues to inspire and drive meaningful impact in communities nationwide.

D'Andre A. Phillips

D’Andre A. Phillips is a Co-Founder and Partner at Philanthropy Forward. D'Andre assumes a pivotal position, spearheading comprehensive oversight of client management, Business Development, and Business Operations within the organization. Boasting an impressive career spanning over 19 years in the advising, fundraising, and engagement verticals, D'Andre has consistently demonstrated a remarkable track record of success, providing strategic philanthropic counsel to high-net-worth individuals, athletes, entertainers, consumer brands, and institutional foundations.

With a professional journey that includes leadership roles at esteemed institutions such as American University, Ruffalo Noel Levitz, NAACP LDF, Blavity, and the Association of Black Cardiologists, D'Andre has played an instrumental role in shaping and fortifying philanthropic endeavors on a national and regional scale. His commitment to community development is further exemplified through his active and past participation on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, RIA- Bladensburg Main Street Economic Development, and Score3 Ventures.

D'Andre's ingenuity in crafting innovative revenue-generating strategies helps him move philanthropy forward. His ability to inspire both investors and donors to translate their curiosity into tangible financial commitments has established him as a true "Conduit to Capital." Throughout his career, D'Andre has successfully secured over $15 million in financial commitments for his clients and partners. His passion for amplifying philanthropic impact, coupled with a keen understanding of the intersection amongst Black philanthropy, sports, entertainment, and social responsibility. As a trusted advisor to philanthropists and grantmakers, D'Andre aims to move Philanthropy Forward. D’Andre holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of West Georgia, a Certificate in Crowdfunding from the University of Pennsylvania(2021), and a Certificate in AI: Foundations from Arizona State University(2024).
